Sources report a loud explosion at the Iranian Consulate General in the city of Mazar-i-Sharif.
MAZARI SHARIF, April 23 - Sangar, Qari Ahmad. The day before, two more explosions took place in the provincial capital of Balkh, one of which was carried out by the Daesh terrorist group.
Local sources in the Fifth District of Mazar-i-Sharif told Sangar that an explosion occurred at the Consulate General of the Islamic Republic of Iran in Mazar-i-Sharif at 11:00 yesterday.
“About half an hour after the explosion, shots were fired in the area, apparently, a clash broke out between the two groups. The Taliban have closed the area and are not allowing people to enter the area,” the source said.
According to him, the Iranian Consulate General is located between the Second, Fourth, and Fifth - three districts of the city of Mazar Sharif. There is no further information about the explosion yet. Taliban provincial officials confirmed the incident but promised more details by morning.
Two days ago, on April 21, a suicide bomber blew himself up in a Shiite mosque in Mazar-i-Sharif, killing and injuring dozens of people. The second explosion occurred on the same day in the Zahiraddin Babur district in the center of Balkh, there were no casualties. The terrorist group ISIS claimed responsibility for the attack on the Shiite mosque.
As for Balkh, on April 18, the terrorist group fired several missiles at the territory of Uzbekistan. Tashkent responded by sending about 60 fighter jets and helicopters to monitor its border with Afghanistan.
