Historical confession of Princess Hindi, daughter of Amanullah Khan:

I am ending my life, so I want to share my memories of the hero Ahmad Shah Massoud. I do not want to take this truth with me when I leave this world.

From the day my father bid farewell to Afghanistan and we migrated to Italy, the British drew a line around us and we were effectively imprisoned, like Napoleon on St. Helena.

On the one hand, economic pressure, and on the other hand, political pressure! We contacted Nader's government several times, but he sent his message by killing the delegation sent by my father, I have done this to your delegation, think what I will do to you. On the other hand, the Turkish government did not accept us because it recognized Nader's government.

Later, when Zahir Shah came to power, my father contacted Kabul several times through the Afghan embassies in Italy and Turkey and asked to return home, which was rejected each time by Hashem Khan and Shah Mahmud Khan.

My father knew very well that the government of Kabul was under the influence of the British, and it was the British who imprisoned us and banned us from entering the country because they had not forgotten the year when my father slapped them.

My father often said: “I left the country with the hope of those countries that loved us, gave me a warm welcome, and made promises to me during my trip. If I had known that this would happen to me and that the Yahya Ehsan dynasty would be forgotten, I would not have left the country and it would have been better if I had been killed there.” All these problems were on one side when the Second World War began and our life became increasingly difficult.

Thus, my father died in 1963, dreaming of seeing his country again, and never fulfilled his dream. After my father's death, we thought that perhaps the British would finally let us go, but we were wrong. The British never took their eyes off us.

With the establishment of the Republic of Dawood, my brothers and I contacted the government of Kabul, but this time we realized that the Yahya dynasty not only avoided us on the advice of the British but also had a personal grudge against our family.

After the communists came to power, we were against this government and never wanted to establish contact. Thus, our whole life was spent dreaming of the Motherland far from the Motherland, and there were no more expectations, we completely lost all hope of returning to Afghanistan.

There were no more phone messages, no news from the Motherland. We only learned from the media that the Mujahideen had captured Kabul and there was a civil war until we received a call from Kabul asking us to go to the embassy. We didn’t know who was calling us or what he wanted. We had no one to take care of us in Kabul, and the embassy staff didn’t even tell us who he was. They just said it was an order.

Anyway, when we entered the room, I was asked to talk on the phone. When I said yes, a familiar, confident, and kind voice answered from the other side: “Salam Alaikum, insha’Allah, you are well.” I had heard this voice several times on French radio and in the media, and I asked: “Who are you?” He said: “I am Ahmadshah,” and the embassy staff member next to me said with a smile that he was Amir Sahib Massoud. Yes, it was Hero Massoud, himself.

I continued the conversation, and he asked about our situation during all these years away from home. I felt a lump in my throat, but I didn’t want Hero Massoud to know that I was crying. After greeting me, he asked about my brothers and also spoke with Prince Ehsanullah. The most interesting thing is that he not only offered us to return to our homeland but also wanted to transfer power to us.

Our family hugged each other with tears in our eyes. It was not for the sake of the kingdom and power but for the joy of returning to our homeland and breathing its air. He said that Ustad Rabbani went to Herat and would soon announce his resignation, and the prince could come and become the president of the republic. He emphasized that he considered this for the good of the country.

We were all preparing and were happy that finally, after many years, someone invited us to our homeland and even to take power. Yes, the national hero Ahmad Shah Massoud was the first to ask us to our homeland.
