Important moments of the interview of the head of the Center for the Study of Afghan Policy Andrei Serenko (Russia) to the correspondent of the Belsat TV channel.

- The creation of obstacles to the activities of political parties by the Taliban is a common thing for all jihadist groups. In this regard, there is no difference between Al Qaeda, ISIS, and the Taliban.

- Based on the doctrines of Al-Qaeda, ISIL, and the Taliban, elections and the activities of political parties are useless and ineffective. According to the theorists of these groups, the government in the country should be completely based on the Islamic Sharia, that is, on the verses of the Word of God and the hadiths of the Prophet. In their opinion, the main source of power is the will of God, and not the will of individuals, even if the will of the people is represented and implemented through elections and the activities of political parties.

Previously, Taliban militants (al-Qaeda, ISIS, and other similar groups) have strongly opposed those who voted in the Afghan elections, calling it an un-Islamic act, threatening participants, punishing them in field courts, and even cutting off their fingers and hands with all cruelty.

- If transparent and fair elections are held in Afghanistan, the Taliban will undoubtedly lose them.

- - The fact that some people praise the Taliban on the streets of Kabul is nothing but the presence of "Stockholm Syndrome" when the hostages praise and glorify those who captured them. This phenomenon is understandable: what can be done when a gun is held over your head!?

- The people of Afghanistan are in a kind of shock, poverty and migration are increasing every day. 97 percent of the Afghan population is in need of humanitarian assistance, about 27 million people are struggling with malnutrition, and another 6 million live in poverty and are practically starving.

- In such a completely chaotic situation, the Taliban banned the activities of political parties. Well, it’s clear that you can’t turn a predator into a vegetarian, it’s impossible. In fact, the Taliban is a machine for jihad. This group cannot be called a structured force that can manage the apparatus of power, organize elections, and provide social, economic, and cultural services. The Taliban is a war machine. The crux of the matter is that the Taliban do not know how to live except to fight and jihad.

During the two years that the Taliban have been in power, the group has not only hurt others but has been in a difficult position itself. This group could not get out of the position of the malishas.

- The Taliban parasitize the facilities, capacities, and infrastructures left over from the previous regimes, they pretend to “rule”, but these capacities will soon run out, and the country is sinking deeper into crisis.

- The Taliban cannot change, and this should not be expected from them. The Taliban is a terrorist-jihadist group and remains with the same “philosophy”, even if people from this group are seated in the chairs of the minister, deputy, president, and the residence of the head of state.

- I'm afraid that the end of this hell [Taliban rule] will pave the way for a new civil war in this country.

- The Talib is not capable of economic development, so the process of impoverishment and destruction of Afghanistan will continue, state structures will fall apart, and all this will lead to new ethnic and religious conflicts.

- ISIS is on the rise in Afghanistan. This grouping is very dangerous, it will not only continue terrorist attacks, but also engage in more serious activities on the territory of Afghanistan, and will demand its share in management.

- Thus, the likelihood of a civil war in Afghanistan is high. I do not believe that this crisis can be overcome peacefully.
